Hogwarts for the Modern-Day Muggle

Yes, it’s happening. Pull out your wands and robes, and pack your suitcase because Hogwarts is coming to life.

In 2017, a four-day school, based off of the bestselling series Harry Potter, is opening in at the Château de Jolibert in Bourgougnague, France. It will be hosted by the Mimbulus Mimbletonia Association, a die-hard “Potterhead” fan club based in France, who is taking over the castle for the week.

Only 100 lucky Muggles, or people with no magical powers, will be given the opportunity to attend the modeled academy from May 25 to May 28 of next year, according to Metro News’ Seamus Duff.

The magical week will be based off of the first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, written by pseudonymed author J.K. Rowling.

The only listed requirement for prospective participants is that they must be at least 16 years of age, however all under 18 must have a letter of permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Tickets are going on sale later in 2016, and, the prices have not been released yet, though they are expected to be high. The pass is all-inclusive, including four days of classes, three nights of board, and meals, according to Teen Vogue.

The school days will begin with a Sorting Ceremony in which the lucky participants will be placed in one of the four houses of Hogwarts – Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.

Courses will then be taught in Botany, Potions, and Charms, much like Harry, Hermione, and Ron did at Hogwarts during their first year. Students will also play Quidditch, a game portrayed in the movies and books as involving flying broomsticks and bludgers.

And don’t fret, because the Huffington Post reports that the Mimbulus Mimbletonia has planned out a makeshift Diagon Alley leading up to the academy so participants can be fully equipped for their first day.

Unfortunately, for all of us that live in other areas, or are not multilingual, all classes will be conducted in French. Guess it’s time to pull out that Rosetta Stone and start brushing up!
