Greta Thunberg is a 16-year-old climate activist from Sweden taking the world by storm and she doesn’t have any time for the government’s nonsense.

Thunberg has been striking school every Friday since August 2018. Instead, she camps out in front of the Swedish Parliament, demanding action to be taken against the ongoing climate crisis.

Thunberg’s reasoning behind this protesting is that if the government is stealing her generation’s future, then her going to school shouldn’t matter. At this rate, her future is not worth it.

On Friday, September 20, Thunberg led a worldwide climate strike, where students walked out of class to protest “government and business inaction on climate change,” according to VOX. “Thunberg has become an increasingly influential figurehead and voice for youth climate angst and activism.”

An estimated 4 million participants worldwide hit the streets in protest on Friday, followed by the Climate Action Summit. On Monday, September 23, countries came together at the United Nations, urging them to “commit to tougher climate targets and faster transitions to renewable energy,” explains VOX.

But in a perfect world, she would not have to be missing out on so much of her life. There should not be a reason for her to have to.

“This is all wrong, I shouldn’t be up here,” Thunberg said, quoted in Gizmodo. “I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. You have stolen my dreams, my childhood with your empty words. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line.”

In an interview with The Guardian, Thunberg declares, “you are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.”
