Clemson Wins 2019 College Football National Championship

On Jan. 7, the Clemson Tigers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 44-16 to win the 2019 College Football National Championship at Levi’s Stadium.

Alabama never felt comfortable during the game, as starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa struggled all night long, fumbling once and throwing two costly interceptions. He was eventually taken out of the game in the second half by backup Jalen Hurts.

It was the opposite for Clemson freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He threw for 347 yards, three touchdowns, and never took a sack.

Trevor Lawrence’s counterpart, Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross, had a huge game catching six passes and going 153 yards.

A nice summary of the game was on Alabama’s last drive where Clemson’s Clelin Ferrell sacked Tagovailoa for a four-yard loss to seal the National Championship for the Tigers.

Clemson had arguably the most successful season in college football history, as they went 15-0, with an ACC championship and Dabo Swinney’s second national championship vs Alabama in the last three years.

After the game, Alabama Coach Nick Saban said Alabama “didn’t play very well” as this was Nick Saban’s worst loss as head coach of Alabama and no previous Saban-led team had faced a deficit of more than 20 points.

Clemson seems to be building a dynasty, and fans will be eager to see 2020 Heisman favorite, Trevor Lawrence, try to win back to back championship next season.
