After a hard-fought game, the Helix Varsity Girls Basketball team lost against Grossmont High School on Friday, February 3rd with a final score 0f 51-55.
The score was close for the entirety of the game, but Grossmont managed to stay ahead by a few points throughout it, with Helix following closely behind. Helix almost overtook Grossmont multiple times, but wasn’t able to catch up in the end.
This game ended the four-game winning streak that the Varsity girls team had built up against Santana, West Hills, Lincoln, and Granite Hills.
The team had a game against Bishops the next day on Saturday, February 4th, which was another tough loss with a final score of 34-57.
Their record is now 4-2 in league, and an impressive 16-7 overall.
The team is doing considerably better than last year, they are beating teams that they had previously lost to and now have an improved record. Their final record last year was 5-5 in league and 14-15 overall, compared to this years 4-2 record in league and impressive 16-7 record overall.
The season is starting to come to a close, there are only three more league games in the season.
The next game is a home game this Friday (February 9th) against Mount Miguel at 5:30. Helix lost in a battle to Mount Miguel during their last game, so be sure to attend if you want to see a good game!
