Two Daughters Found In 31 Years

Two women who disappeared from Rhode Island as children have been discovered more than 31 years later, and their mother has been arrested, according to NBC.

Kimberly who was 3 years old and Kelly who was 10 months old was reported missing by their father Russell in 1985.

Their mother Elaine Yates, who has been wanted on a child-snatching warrant since 1988. was arrested Monday in Houston.

The 69-year-old had apparently been living under the name Leina Waldberg, but when she was caught she had admitted her true identity after she was found.

Her children, now 35 and 32 and also living under different identities, do not live with their mother and accused abductor, but are in the Houston area and in good health, according to police spokesman Lt. Col. Joseph Philbin.

The father , Russell Yates, spoke to CNN camera crew and quoted that, “I’ve always been trying to find my children. Now at least, it’s up to them to get in touch with me,”

The case was featured on “America’s Most Wanted.” Age-processed images of the mother and children appeared on the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. State police detectives followed leads to Canada, Colorado, Florida, Oregon, Maine and New Hampshire. Generations of recruits were taught about the case.
