Although it definitely hasn’t been very long since the Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie was released Mar. 20, and Suicide Squad, released Aug. 5, where the Dark Knight also makes a brief appearance, there are rumors throughout social media that have been confirmed by the director himself, there will be a new Batman movie.
Ben Affleck, the current face of Batman in the last two movies, has been confirmed to be the director of the upcoming movie, according to the website, Cinema Blend.
Affleck has made a strong name for himself, after the several award-winning films he has directed, such as The Town and Gone Baby Gone.
Unfortunately, the plot line of the movie has not been confirmed, but there are many theories on the characters that will make an appearance, as well as villains never shown before.
According to the online comic book news source, Newsarama, actor “Joe Manganiello has been confirmed as Deathstroke.”
Deathstroke, also known as Slade Wilson and one of the most ruthless assassins in DC Comics, has never appeared in any live-action films with Batman, said Batman-News.com, and to have him in the movie would be “the most evenly-matched antagonist” Batman would be shown an screen with.
Another rumor includes that the former Robin, Jason Todd, who was thought to be dead, “came back to life” as the Red Hood.
Cinemablend commented that the “movie will introduce some important players from [Affleck’s] supporting cast, like Robin, Batgirl, or Nightwing, ” but as for the main villain–there is no real proof of who it will be nor whom will be playing the part.
Comic-book fans’ excitement seem to bubble up by the minute, especially with Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns (who has been working alongside Affleck), who are ready to bring in “all the big guns” to the film, according to Cinemablend.
For now, the film is under the name The Batman, and though the title seems to rise different reactions from the public, Ben Affleck assures it is still the working title.
No official date has been released for the the film, and though the Time Warner CEO, Jeff Bewkes, admits he believes the movie will be out in “a year and a half,” there is no solid proof.
The solo Batman movie may come out next year, or the year after, but with Affleck’s promise to “tell the ultimate Batman story,” many would say it is definitely worth waiting.
