On Tuesday, the 15th of October, son of Ron Ely, Cameron Ely, killed his mother in their Santa Barbara home and was later shot and killed by deputies, says the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Ron Ely and his wife, Valerie Lundeen, were in their home in Hope Ranch, just outside of Santa Barbara, when their 30-year-old son, Cameron Ely, stabbed Lundeen and killed her.

911 dispatchers received a call where Cameron explains that his father had “attacked” his mother. Dispatchers explain that the caller sounded “unintelligible, and crying.”

Officers responded to the scene, where they communicated with Ron Ely. He was home at the time and revealed to them that it was his son who had done the crime.

Deputies later found Cameron Ely on the property and fatally shot him when he posed a threat to them.

Ron Ely is best known for his role as Tarzan from 1966 to 1968 and his recurring roles in “The Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island.” Valerie Lundeen was a former Miss Florida pageant winner.

Cameron Ely was a football player at Harvard and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
