On Sept. 14, 2018, Helix once again defeated St. Augustine 35-14 on their home turf, ceasing Saints’ undefeatable streak. Coming through those gates on a chilly cold night heating up the whole stadium, students were confident knowing they were going to win.
Throughout the whole game, Helix maintained it’s high energy, scoring 5 touchdowns.
On the first play of the game, the Saints quarterback, Angelo Pereza passed a deep ball down to Michael Ambagtsheer, a 42-yard pass. Then onto Saints running back Sage Eismann which ran for a 2 yard into the end zone. Next, Helix’s Damon Amon threw Chris Rivera a bomb for a 24-yard pass into the touchdown. Then, number 14, Delshawn Traylor intercepted the ball while playing defense, followed by a Helix punt.
Byron Cardwell charged into the touchdown on a 3-yard run making the score 14-7 for Saints. Helix’s Junior runningback Eleyone Noa rushing for 165 yards scoring a touchdown with a pick-six, and with Traylor rushing for 79 yards with two touchdowns. Jaiden Brown decided to finish off the score with a 45-yard pick six return.
Helix shut down Saints with 4 interceptions and ending the night with a 35-14 win.
Through the sweat and big hits, Helix fought together. Not only does Helix add a win for the team, but they also get the bragging rights until the next time they meet St. Augustine.
For now, Helix will remain a power team destroying everything and everyone in their way.
