Ally Rein, Staff Writer

As this year ends, let’s recap the top songs of 2017 according to Billboard.

“Shape Of You” by Ed Sheeran

This song was in the top ten for 33 weeks which is a new record. Some might say it is a song that if you are single it would make you want to be in a relationship.

“That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars

From “Just The Way You Are” to “That’s What I Like,” his upbeat catchy songs keep playing on repeat. Mars has had multiple hits throughout the years and this one proved to follow that trend.

“Despacito (Remix)” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber

This song was originally made in all Spanish but Justin Bieber added his own flare and made a remix. Let’s be honest- it is one of the most popular songs because of Justin Bieber. If you have not already, I would check out the original because it is just as good.

“Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay

“Something Just Like This” is a song almost everyone has heard. Its bass drop is certainly dance-worthy. The meaning behind the song is all about a relationship that the songwriter does not feel ready for.

“Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B

This rap by emerging artist Cardi B quickly became an anthem. Though the meaning of the song is questionable, it still ranks high with over 300 million views on YouTube.

“Unforgettable” by French Montana

This Hip/Hop song’s music video was played over 500 million times on YouTube. This song is very enjoyable to dance to and features individuals dancing to it while they filmed the video in Africa.

“HUMBLE.” by Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar tells everyone to “be humble, sit down.” This song spent 15 weeks on the Billboard Top 10.

“I’m The One” by DJ Khaled ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne

This song has the most artists on this list with a total of five contributing to the song. It won Best Song (Hip-Hop/Rap) at the AMAs (American Music Awards).

“Bad And Boujee” by Migos

“Bad and Boujee” a song welcomed at many school dances, where teens would be reciting every word of the song. While this song is explicit, it did not stop the radio from playing the clean version many times this year.

“Believer” by Imagine Dragons

“Believer” is a pop/rock song that was featured in multiple commercials and shows.

Though the year is coming to a close, these songs will surely still be popular throughout 2018.
