These two photographs released April 18, 2017 by the Fresno Police Department show shooting suspect Kori Ali Muhammad, 39, who authorites say went on a shooting spree in the central California city of Fresno on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, killing three people and injuring another before being arrested, authorities said. Fresno police chief Jerry Dyer told reporters that the suspect, an African-American named Kori Ali Muhammad, shouted “Allahu Akbar” — “God is great” in Arabic — as he was being taken into custody. But he said it did not appear the killings were an act of terrorism and a probe was under way to determine if they qualified as a hate crime. / AFP PHOTO / AFP PHOTO AND FRESNO POLICE / FRESNO POLICE / == RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE / MANDATORY CREDIT: “AFP PHOTO / FRESNO POLICE” / NO MARKETING / NO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS / DISTRIBUTED AS A SERVICE TO CLIENTS == (Photo credit should read FRESNO POLICE/AFP/Getty Images)

On Tuesday Apr. 18, 39-year-old, Kori Ali Muhammad, opened fire for less than two minutes, killing three white males in downtown Fresno.

It is believed that the targets were randomly selected.

Terrorism was ruled out, as Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer “believe[s] … that this is [not] a terrorist-related crime.

Prior to the crime, Muhammad took to social media and called himself a “black soldier,” and referenced white people as “devils,” reported the Los Angeles Times.

“This is solely based on race” Dyer said, according to the Times.

Muhammad is being charged with the murders of  34-year-old Zackary Randalls, 37-year-old Mark Gassett, 58-year-old David Martin Jackson, as well as 25-year-old Carl Williams, one victim was from a previous incident.

According to CNN News, Williams was shot and killed outside of a Motel 6 last week. In order to escape custody, “Muhammad shaved his head and face to change his appearance.”

Randalls was “shot dead as he was riding in a vehicle with a colleague, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers” confirmed CNN. Gassett and Jackson were shot and killed near the Catholic Charities social services agency.

Muhammad reportedly aimed at many more civilians, including “two Latina women and a child also crossed paths with Muhammad, who pointed the gun at them as they sat in their car trying to flee, but he did not shoot” reported CBS News.

He is also accused of firing at a 59-year-old white male coming out of his home. Fortunately, Muhammad missed his shot.

As he was being taken into custody, he told police “I did it. I shot them. You guys are looking for me.” Muhammad later yelled “Allahu akbar” as he was being handcuffed, which roughly translates to “God is great.”

CNN stated that Fresno Mayor Lee Brand called it “a sad day for us all.”
